A Security’s price fluctuates on a frequent basis through out the year. In the stock market parlance, instead of yearly highs and lows, 52 weeks high and low are usually considered. A 52 week high price is the highest price a particular security has traded during the previous 52 weeks prior to the current date and a 52 week low is the price which is the lowest price traded.
It is an important indicator as the prices at or near 52 week lows indicate that the price is trading at the lowest levels of the year. Many investors consider as the best time of the year to invest in that security or share, while traders consider this as the potential weakness in the stock and believe that it should go down more. All the investors who have bought the share in the past 52 weeks would have incurred losses in this security.
On the other hand, 52 week highs are considered by investors as the right time to go short or sell this securities while the traders consider it as the strength in the stock. Anyone who has invested in the stock and held onto it would be gaining profits in the stock.
On the SAMCO NEST Trader, 52 Week high and low can be checked from the snap quote dialog box using the short cut key “F6”

This article explains how one can view positions using Admin positions feature of the SAMCO NEST Trader.
After a trade has been entered, the next big thing that a trader wants to know is what is the status of the trade? Is it in a profit or is he suffering a loss on the trade? Once the order is completed, the order shall reflect in the trade book (shortcut key – F8).  But this will only show the price at which the order has been traded. To check the status of outstanding positions click on Masters – Admin Positions (Shortcut key – F11)

How to select admin position window
How to select admin position window

This shall take you to the “Check Admin Position” Window as seen below.

admin1
Check Admin Position

This window shall show all the open positions of the day for both equity & derivatives market. In Net wise positions, all the day wise open positions can be seen and in addition to the day wise positions, it shall also display the carry forward derivative transactions. Please note that the Marked to Market or Profit & loss for the carry forward trades would be calculated using the “previous day’s closing price” and not the buying price except in the case of NRML-EQ carry forward positions under the CashPlus product. Buying Price can be checked from our back office “Samco Star” -> Portfolio -> Open Positions. When a trader/investor views his positions using this admin positions window, these positions are updated in real time.
In the check admin position window one can check and do a lot of extra activities like:

  1. Check admin position i.e. the open positions – both day wise and net wise
  2. Check the profit or loss on individual positions and sum of profits/losses on all the positions
  3. Square off open positions
  4. Convert positions using the Position Conversion feature

In Today’s world of increased online fraud and cyber crime. Security of online accounts has gone for a toss. IT companies come up with ways to tackle this frauds or scams and only provide access to accounts after verifying the identity.
Now to verify the owner of a particular bank or trading account cannot be restricted to password only, passwords only can be hacked or may be leaked in some or other way through viruses or malicious software. It is imperative to have further verification of identity before allowing one access to his or her respective account. A simple user name and password had become easy for hackers to crack hence the 2FA or 2 factor authorization came in to existence.

How does it work?

Two Factor Authentication, also known as 2FA, two step verification or , is an extra layer of security that is known as “multi factor authentication” that requires not only a password and username but also something which only user knows.
User name and password combined with additional piece of information which only the the user knows, makes it difficult for hackers and intruders to crack your account details and reduces the changes of giving access to your account.
2FA isn’t a new invention however it has now gained popularity because of the digital age we live in.
If you ask a common man what is 2FA, he probably would not know it. However you actually use it every time you login in to your SAMCO Trading account
Some customers do not like the 2FA Process because it makes the logging in process slower and tedious however this system is designed for the security and safety of their own account
Below Image displays the 2FA verification which an user undergoes before providing access to his/her trading account

2FA authentication

A User has to select the relevant questions and answers to those questions at the time of first sign in or when he changes his passwords and authentication. User has to remember answers to these questions and has to enter them before every login. In this way apart from the user ID and passwords there is another layer of authentication and security added to users account.

In the above window, shares in the T1 Qty represent the shares that you have purchased however are not yet received yet in the demat account. How to sell order in Samco Nest Trader

Like buy order, the first task for placing a sell order is to select the scrip which one wishes to sell.
buy scrip select
After this, one can right click and select the “sell order entry” tab.
Or one can go to the Orders and Trades option on the menu at the top and select the “Sell Order Entry” tab.
right click buy
Or one can simply enter the short cut keys from the key board which are “F2” or “-” (minus) button.
This shall open the sell order entry tab which shall look like below.
sell
The Order Type and the product type will have the same meaning as for the buy orders. Also the submit button and the transaction password option would be same. For putting a sell order for squaring off the earlier positions, the “Product Type” option should be the same in which the shares were bought earlier. For example – If one had purchased Reliance in “MIS”, the sell order should also be in MIS. Else the order would get rejected (if there is no holding) or a new position would get generated.
However, please note that if the initial order was a buy order, the stop loss order for covering the losses would have to be a “Sell Order”. Eg: If you have bought 1 Reliance share for Rs 1070 and wish to sell if it falls below 1050, the stop loss order would be a sell order with a trigger price of Rs 1050.
